I have registered my bone marrow, so I hope that it might be a match.

In any case, can anyone setup a paypal account, so that it is easier to send donations.

Just a suggestion.

Nagu, I came to know from a friend of mine that Paypal has been setup. I'm not good at writing out checks and mailing them (this is how e-bills, online payments & automatic payments tend to make you lazy), so this is an excellent option for people like me who still couldn't get their check out on time :-)

Response from a friend of mine who is a doctor in the US:

Does he have any siblings, have they been checked. If there is a sibling match ( best chances of a good outcome) we do transplants at NIH free of charge for leukemia patients. We take care of travel etc too if they are eligible for a protocol. I think there is a matched unrelated donor protocol also available here at NIH but I don't know their eligibilty criteria. Let me know.

Rajesh does not have any siblings and there is no match with his fathers marrow. Hence it has to be match with an unrelated donor. However, it is interesting to note that NIH will do such transplants free of charge. Can you pursue this and see how Rajesh can become eligible for this.

Regards,
Dinesh

Follow-up response from my friend:

"If you can get contact information including email, phone etc of the patient. I can pass it on to the research nurse involved and see what happens. I will also try to get the contact information of research nurse to you.

Some information about NIH.
NIH does treatment only on protocols. This means patients have to meet the eligibility criteria for a protocol to get treatment. So don't raise any hopes yet.
I don't know what the eligibility criteria are for this protocol like what diseases qualify etc."

Nagu, you know my mail id... pls reply when you get a chance, thanks.
